BOTOX® is one of the most popular and well-known treatments for softening wrinkles, as well as preventing new ones from developing. This time-tested treatment helps to create a better-looking version of you.
Downtime and Results
One of the reasons why BOTOX is so popular is because it achieves excellent results with very little downtime involved. The majority of patients are able to return to their regular day immediately—although there are some restrictions. You are advised to remain upright for four hours. We recommend that for one week, you avoid putting any pressure on your face. This includes sleeping face-down, rubbing your face, applying makeup too aggressively, etc. We also recommend avoiding vigorous exercise, flying, any type of tanning, and experiencing any kind of excessive heat for 48 hours. Any other cosmetic procedures that you’re planning on having done to your face may need to be postponed until two weeks after your Botox treatment, and Dr. Lamoureux will be sure to advise you in this regard.
Side effects with BOTOX are rare, but can include a headache, nausea, swelling/bruising/numbness at the injection sites, tenderness, temporary eyelid drooping. Ice can be applied lightly and intermittently to the treated area for the first 48 hours, and limiting the intake of alcohol and blood-thinning medications is advised to decrease the chance of bleeding or bruising.
